Pea Ginger Rice


This is the rice I made to accompany the awesome slow cooker Masala chicken....mmmmm....it was soo good :)

Ingredients
------------
-2 1/2 cups well soaked calrose rice
-1 1/2 tablespoons dried ginger (or 1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger)
-3 cups boiling water
-1 cup peas
-butter or oil

To make
---------
-Heat the butter or oil, add the well drained rice and ginger, saute for a couple of minutes
-Add the boiling water and peas. Add salt to taste
-Cover and cook on lowest setting for about 18-20 minutes.
-Uncover, fluff rice and leave for another 10 minutes.
-Optional: Garnish with any remaining cilantro and sauteed onions from the Masala Chicken

  1. You could toss it in Rice cooker after sautee method. It makes the job lot easier.

  2. yummmmmm. I originally made this as a side to the epic Masala Chicken recipe on this site, and now I even make it on its own for meatless mondays and its so good! I serve with a side of yogurt and the kids gobble it up.
